So to start, who is BruMate? Dylan Jacob has most definitely earned his spot on the 2018 Forbes 30 under 30 lists. His story started in Greenwood, Indiana, a small town a few miles from Indianapolis. He and his siblings were raised by their mom on a minimum wage income after Jacob’s parents divorced. This was what sparked the brilliant entrepreneurial journey that would soon become BruMate.

How Did Brumate Start
After Jacob’s parents divorced, he discovered his gift of entrepreneurship by taking advantage of every opportunity. He would begin by doing tasks for the senior citizens that made up most of the neighborhood his family lived in. He had also been helping his grandfather in his electronic repair shop, so in high school, Jacob bought his friends’ broken cell phones to repair, which he then sold on eBay as refurbished. When cell phone repair shops started popping up, causing Jacob to lose business, he didn’t let this stop him from staying successful, he started to sell spare cell phone parts to the cell phone repair shops. He would sell this business in 2014 for $100,000 after dropping out of Purdue University and landing an engineering internship at Rolls Royce in downtown Indianapolis. He would find and sell another company, Vicci Design which Jacob’s father bought. Neither cell phone parts nor kitchen backlashes were what he wanted to be doing; he was destined to make something just his own, so he began to keep a journal for a whole year, taking it everywhere to report how he could improve everything he touched. And it wouldn’t be until after his 21st birthday. After always ending up with the last quarter of his drink being warm and unable to find a can cooler to fit a 16 oz cans. Jacob would fly to China to have the 1st prototype made for the BruMate Trio.
